Ahern Family Charitable Foundation St. Patrick’s Day Gala Honors Military Champions
Military Friends Foundation Executive Director Sarah Sweeney to be Named “Patriot Award” Recipient by Ahern Foundation
BURLINGTON – The Ahern Family Charitable Foundation will be hosting the 2020 St. Patrick’s Day Gala on March 14, 2020 at the Burlington Marriott. The evening will feature the Irish Step Dancers, Massachusetts State Police Pipes and Drums, DJ and much more.
Mrs. Sarah Sweeney, Executive Director of the Military Friends Foundation, has been named the 2020 “Patriot Award” Recipient by the Ahern Foundation and the award will be presented at the Gala. Past award recipients include Captain Mary Jo Majors, NECN’s Matt Noyes, former New England Patriot Steve Grogan, and Medal of Honor Recipients Thomas Hudner and Thomas Kelley. “I am truly humbled to be recognized by the Ahern Foundation – an organization who themselves has made caring for veteran and military families the highest priority,” said Sarah Sweeney. Mrs. Sweeney, an army Wife, has served as the executive director of Military Friends Foundation since 2009 and has been a champion for military families and advocate for expanding support to Families of Fallen Military and First Responders. Mr. Tom Lyons, a leading advocate for veterans, will also be receiving the “Lifetime of Service Award” and Mr. Andrew Biggio, author and founder of Boston Wounded Vets Run will be receiving the “Humanitarian Award”.
