Boston/December 2022, WCVB Boston – Gold Star military families rang in the holiday season during a special Christmas tree dedication ceremony Thursday at the State House.

Every year, the Military Friends Foundation hosts the event to pay tribute to Massachusetts military members who died in service and their families.

On Thursday, those families were honored by Gov. Charlie Baker, Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito and Gov.-elect Maura Healey.

A tree is decorated with photos, messages and personalized ornaments from the families of Massachusetts service members who have given their lives for this country.

The tree will be on display throughout the holiday season.
