December 2021/BOSTON (WBZ NewRadio) – Families at the statehouse gathered to remember those lost in service to the nation. Military Friends Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting Massachusetts families who have lost a loved one to combat, were joined Thursday by Governor Charlie Baker and First Lady Lauren Baker for the Gold Star Family Tree Dedication.
The foundation hosts the annual tradition to pay tribute to Massachusetts service members who gave their lives while serving the country. The event is also dedicated to the families who carry their legacy moving forward.
Surviving family members gathered to decorate the tree and share their experiences about their lost loved ones. Some individuals on the tree served decades ago while others lost their lives recently.
