MASSACHUSETTS Gold Star Tree
Massachusetts Gold Star Tree Lighting
Join with the Military Friends Foundation as we host the annual 2025 Massachusetts Gold Star Families Tree dedication with Governor Maura Healey and First Lady Joanna Lydgate on December 18, 2025 at 2PM at the Massachusetts State House (Memorial Hall, 2nd Floor).
The Massachusetts Gold Star Families Tree project was created in 2012 by the Military Friends Foundation 501c3. The tree pays tribute to our Massachusetts Service Members who gave their lives in service to our Nation and the families who carry their legacy forward. Ornaments from loved ones will be displayed on the tree and serve to remind of the tremendous sacrifices made for our Freedoms.
Families of the Fallen are invited to bring a wallet-sized photo to place on the tree before the ceremony. A family friendly holiday reception will follow. The tree will be on display at the State House through the month of December.
Event Highlights:
1:00PM-1:45PM: Ornament Making & Cookie Decoration (Nurse’s Hall, 2nd Floor) – Join before the tree ceremony to make an ornament for your Fallen Hero to be placed on the tree. All are welcome to bring a wallet sized photo to place on the tree. Please note ornaments/photos will not be returned as the tree will be on display for public through the holiday season.
2:00PM: Gold Star Tree Ceremony (Memorial Hall, 2nd Floor) – The ceremony will feature a reading T’was The Night Before Christmas where children are invited forward to gather at the tree. Near the conclusion of the program, Families of the Fallen are invited to join in reading the name of their Fallen Hero. Any family wishing to do so may line up and speak from the podium.
3:45PM – 4:45PM: Holiday Reception with Santa Claus (Grand Staircase, 2nd Floor)
