BOSTON, MA – Military Friends Foundation was honored to serve as a flagship partner of Massachusetts Military Appreciation Day on Thursday, May 21, 2026, joining Governor Maura Healey, state leaders, veterans, service members, military families, and community partners at the Massachusetts State House to recognize the men and women who serve our Commonwealth and country.

Massachusetts Military Appreciation Day brings together leaders from across the state to honor veterans, active duty service members, National Guard members, Reservists, military families, and advocates who continue to strengthen communities across the Commonwealth. The annual event is a powerful reminder that the freedoms we cherish are protected by those willing to serve, sacrifice, and answer the call. Their commitment lives on through their families, their communities, and the continued duty we all share to support those who have given so much for our nation.

Military Friends Foundation was proud to support this year’s event and stand alongside the Healey-Driscoll Administration, the Executive Office of Veterans Services, members of the Massachusetts Legislature and military community leaders in honoring the Commonwealth’s military families.

“Massachusetts Military Appreciation Day is a meaningful opportunity to pause and recognize the service, sacrifice, and strength of our military community,” said Sarah Sweeney, Executive Director of Military Friends Foundation and an Army wife. “At Military Friends Foundation, we are proud to stand with service members, veterans, military families, and families of the fallen across the Commonwealth. We are grateful to Governor Healey, the Executive Office of Veterans Services, the Legislature, and all who continue to ensure that those who serve, and the families who serve beside them, are honored, supported and never forgotten.”

Military Friends Foundation is especially grateful to Alltown Fresh for generously donating the luncheon for this year’s event. Their support helped bring together honorees, families, and guests in a spirit of community, gratitude and service.

“Alltown Fresh has been a steadfast community partner and a true friend to Massachusetts military families,” added Sweeney. “Their generosity at Massachusetts Military Appreciation Day reflects the same commitment they have shown throughout Military Appreciation Month – standing with veterans, supporting families, and helping ensure our military community feels seen, valued, and appreciated.”

The Foundation has provided millions of dollars in direct aid and helped establish the state’s Military Family Relief Fund, known as Question 32E on the Massachusetts state tax form, offering residents a voluntary way to give back to those who serve. As Massachusetts continues to recognize Military Appreciation Month, Military Friends Foundation remains committed to its mission: honoring service, standing with military families, and ensuring that the sacrifices of Massachusetts’ heroes are never forgotten.
