For the 10th year in a row, the Military Friends Foundation has provided “Hero Meals” to service members at Hanscom Air Force Base ahead of Thanksgiving. The “Hero Meals” program is a way to thank those who have protected the United States both at home and abroad. The foundation is providing more than $50,000 this year to service members at Hanscom Air Force Base, Gold Star Families, and local veterans across Massachusetts.

Each Thanksgiving meal at Hanscom includes a turkey, a $50 “Hero Meals” grocery gift card, and a food box filled with items such as gravy, cranberry sauce, stuffing, pasta, rolls, potatoes, and pies. The meals are donated by Military Friends Foundation, which provides support for Massachusetts military members and their families through community and wellness initiatives.

“Thanksgiving can be an especially stressful time for military families. Between deployments, frequent moves, and the rising cost of groceries, it’s easy for the holiday table to feel out of reach,” stated Sarah Sweeney, an Army wife and executive director of the Military Friends Foundation. “’Hero Meals’ is our way of wrapping our arms around these families and reminding them that Massachusetts is grateful, not just for their service, but for the sacrifices their loved ones make every day.”
